Five Mile Single-Family Homes
In 2021, CHI began developing single-family homes in the Five Mile neighborhood South Dallas, near Dallas Baptist University, the University of North Texas at Dallas, and the VA Hospital.
CHI has completed XX homes to date, with the goal of completing a total of XX two-bedroom, three-bath homes that will allow working families and individuals the opportunity to become homeowners at a much lower cost of entry. Families will also have access to the City of Dallas’ DHAP program if they qualify.
Upon closing, the homeowners will immediately have substantial equity in the home, supporting their future dreams and building lasting legacies for their families.
ST. JUDE CENTERS
In response to the growing number of unhoused individuals and families in Dallas, CHI expanded its mission-driven development to include the acquisition and renovation of abandoned or neglected properties, transforming them into safe, welcoming communities for the chronically homeless.
St. Jude Center-Forest Lane
St. Jude Center-Forest Lane opened its doors in 2018, welcoming 104 seniors (55+) to their new homes: fully furnished efficiency apartments that they could call their own. In partnership with Catholic Charities Dallas, which manages the property and provides on-site supportive services, this model of permanent supportive housing has proven highly effective – and impactful – in creating pathways to stability and quality of life for the residents.

St. Jude Center-Park Central
St. Jude Center-Park Central opened in late 2020, initially functioning as a housing community for COVID-19-impacted homeless individuals. As the pandemic waned, CHI renovated the former hotel property into 201 efficiency units for adults (18+) needing permanent supportive housing or transitional housing. As with the Forest Lane property, residents have access to a safe, welcoming community that offers wraparound social services.

St. Jude Center-Vantage Point
St. Jude Center-Vantage Point is the newest St. Jude community and will open in mid-2024. A former extended stay hotel, the property will provide 136 units of permanent supportive housing for the chronically homeless. CHI and its partner, Catholic Charities Dallas, are raising funds to cover the $13 million project cost, which has been financial supported by both the City of Dallas and Dallas County, partners in all three St. Jude Centers.
